Advertisers join forces to create online auction August 11, 2006

Nine of the biggest advertisers on TV, including Toyota Motor, Wal-Mart Stores and Microsoft, have joined forces with eBay to build an online marketplace for buying advertising time that would replace the upfront ad-selling system. The group has held preliminary talks with Discovery Networks, but no broadcast or cable network has signed on to participate in this so-called e-Media Exchange.
