Young men are no longer terrified of commitment, but have become a generation of male Bridget Jonestypes hunting for Mrs Right, a survey has claimed.

Almost three-quarters of men believe the perfect girl is out there and want to marryand settle down as soon as they can, the poll found.

Also, 83 per cent of men believe sex is much better in a longterm relationship and one in five lie to potential partners by reducing the number of girlfriends they have had, the survey for Cosmopolitan magazine revealed.

Sam Baker, editor of Cosmopolitan, said: ‘It shows men are just like us girls – they want love, marriage, babies and happy-ever after. They have the same insecurities and worry they will never meet ‘The One’.

There’s a whole generation of male Bridget Joneses out there, although I suspect they are a long way from resorting to wearing big knickers.’
