BUDAPEST
LUDWIG MUSEUM, MUSEUM OF CONTEMPORARY ART > To Feb. 4: “Akos Birkas: Works, 1975-2006.”
The Hungarian artist (born 1941) came under the limelight with “Heads,” a series of abstract ovals which he painted over 15 years, until the end of the 1990s. His more recent works are large scale, realistic works based on a careful study of the human face placed in fairly codified context. The works produced between 1975 and 2006 attest to the diversity in genre, style and technique which Birkas has kept over several decades of creativity.  www.lumu.org.hu
