Daniel Radcliffe is to become the richest teenager in Britain in July, when he gains access to his £20 million fortune.

The ‘Harry Potter’ star will get his hands on the massive sum, amassed from his film roles and merchandising, when he turns 18 on July 23.

Daniel hopes his new wealthy status won’t attract gold-diggers. He said: “I’ve not got a girlfriend at the moment. Somebody said, ‘Do you worry girls are just giving you attention because of who you are?’ I was like, ‘I’m 17, it’s wonderful’.”

Daniel, who this month will take to the stage in London’s West End in a revival of Peter Shaffer’s play Equus, was paid £60,000 for his first outing as the boy wizard in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.

Daniel’s West End debut is causing a controversy, as he appears nude on stage and his character has a sexual fascination with horses. But that’s another story.

orlando.jpg  It seems to be all the rage these days. First it was Harry Potter getting his kit off, now everyone seems to be at it.

And demonstrating that even the highest echelons of art are not impervious to the trend, the Royal Opera House’s latest show Orlando featured a topless Venus played by Suzanne McNaughton.

Her flesh-baring performance was greeted with enthusiastic applause from an audience clearly impressed by this interpretation of the story of medieval knight Orlando, who is driven insane with love. American counter-tenor Bejun Mehta plays the title role in the Handel opera, with Charles Mackerras conducting.

Integrated agency Rave has created a television campaign for a new range of Harry Potter toys and merchandise from collectable’s manufacturer Corgi.

The range will be released to tie-in with the cinema release of the film Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and the publication of the final book in the series, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, on 21 July. The range includes action figures, play sets and wand games

Warwickshire-based Rave has worked on previous Corgi projects including its Forward March collection. Corgi recruited Richard Hopkins to be its European marketing chief last October. He had previously worked for the company in the late 90s.

The company celebrated its 50th anniversary last year and recently signed its first sponsorship deal with The History Channel. Rave’s other clients include Carlsberg and DHL.

The curse of being young, sexy and famous February 28, 2007

danradcliffeequus.jpg  Daniel Radcliffe made his stage debut in Equus to a crowd of impressed fans and a mob of screaming girls just outside the theatre. Even though his cast mates had to sneak out through a window to avoid all of the teeny boppers outside, Radcliffe is getting great reviews.

In the performance, Radcliffe shows off his harry potter on a horse when he rides in aroused and buck naked.  The advance photos had pedophile bloggers, such as Perez Hilton, swooning over the fact that they will get to see the teenaged star naked while the photos angered parents who worried it might make their young daughters and gay sons make a promiscuous move to see what the buzz is about.

Stage stars Jenny Agutter and Richard Griffiths had to climb out of a window to escape fans of Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe as they laid siege to a theatre. A 450-strong gang of teenagers surrounded the stage door at the Gielgud Theatre, where Radcliffe is starring in play Equus. Police were called and dispersed some of the fans while Radcliffe was escorted to a car by security guards, but the other two actors remained stranded.

David Pugh, who is producing the play, said the escape bid was not easy for the veteran thespians. “Richard and Jenny had to get out through the side window by the box office on Rupert Street,” he told the Daily Mail. “You try to get Richard Griffiths out of a back window. It was a bit touch and go.”

Potter plays odd-minded stable hand Strang in the play, a role in which he appears naked for a sex scene. Mr Pugh said he was now expecting excited fans of the star but said he hoped they would remain sensible. “It was only after Peter Shaffer approved Daniel’s casting that we thought, ‘Ooh, what about the Harry Potter fans?’,” he recalled. “But touch wood, there has not been a single giggle or whoop or cheer.”

jesustomb.jpg  Entrance to a burial cave in southern Jerusalem which documentary makers James Cameron and Israel-born Simcha Jacobovici, suggest could be the burial site of Jesus. Picture: Israeli Antiquities Authority.

What do you think? If true, would this be the biggest archaeological story of the century? Or is it just a PR trick promoting the documentary and Cameron as well as to attrack more Discovery Channel viewers?
