A Dutch carpenters’ erotic furniture is to be exhibited at a top German art gallery.

Cabinet maker Mario Philippona designed a range of stylish wooden cupboards, wardrobes and tables using the female anatomy as his inspiration. His newest piece is a fruit bowl decorated with realistically shaped life-size wooden breasts called ‘TittyFruity’.

Other pieces include a wine-glass cupboard in the shape of a pair of large breasts, a table supported by legs moulded from a female model and a bedside drawer which opens by pressing a button in the piece’s ‘vagina’.

Philippona said: “The shape of a woman, her organic architecture, combined with my passion for wood inspired me to sculpt these sexy designs.”

His furniture can be seen at Amadeus Art in the German capital for the month of December or bought online at www.sexyfurniture.nl.

A top female politician ín Holland wants Dutch prostitutes sent abroad with the troops to help them relax.

Annemarie Jorritsma, a politician for the centre-right People’s Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD) and the mayor of the town of Almere, went on national Dutch TV to demand the ‘extra benefits’ for soldiers. She added: “The army must think about how their soldiers can let off some steam.”

The ideas has been backed by the Dutch sex workers union which said it thought the idea had some merit. But an unnamed military spokesman, quoted in the ‘Volkskrant’ newspaper, expressed reservations. He said: “I don’t think my wife would like the idea very much.”

There are currently around 2,000 Dutch soldiers stationed outside of the Netherlands, the majority in either Afghanistan and Bosnia.

A male stripper in Scotland has been charged with impersonating a policeman after real officers mistook him for one of their own.

Stuart Kennedy, 24, was dressed in his fake uniform outside a bar in Aberdeen, north-east Scotland, when he was spotted by two female plain-clothes officers from Grampian Police. The genetics student at Aberdeen University, whose stage name is “Eros”, told them he was a stripper and the officers then watched him perform at the city’s Paramount venue before taking him in for questioning. His outfit and props were confiscated and he was later charged with impersonating an officer and carrying an offensive weapon, he told the Scottish Press Association news agency.

He has yet to discover whether the case will come to court and said he faces problems with show bookings as his uniform has still not been returned. “I immediately told the officers I was a stripper but they did not seem to believe me. They watched the show, then they asked me back to the station. Now I have to wait to find out if this is going any further,” he said.

Grampian Police confirmed that a 24-year-old man was charged in connection with wearing a police uniform and equipment in a public place March 17 and that a report had been sent to prosecutors.

Quite opportunely Vienna has an extraordinary exhibition, “Eros in Modern Art”.

At the BA-CA Kunstforum visitors will encounter a wide variety of interpretations of Eros spanning from love, passion and lust to dreams and unity. More than 200 artworks by Paul Cezanne, Gustav Klimt, Salvador Dali and many more from the past 150 years ensure that Eros is facetted in multiple ways. The exhibition poses more questions than it answers, for instance: Why is art so evidently connected to Eros? Why, to quote Picasso, is art “never chaste”?

Several events are linked to the exhibition: Erotic culinary delights at the Hilton Vienna Plaza, readings of texts from erotic literature backed by music, and philosofical reflections on extra-marital affairs! The last two require that you command German.

BA-CA Kunstforum exhibition: Eros in Modern Art in Vienna can be visited until July 22, 2007.
