Athletic footwear and apparel maker Nike Inc. said Thursday it will resume making Nike-brand soccer balls in Pakistan following a new labor agreement with vendor Silver Star Group.

The agreement requires all workers to be registered as full-time employees who are paid hourly wages and are eligible for social benefits. Part-time workers paid piece-wage rates without access to benefits are prohibited.

Nike expects to place its first soccer-ball order with Silver Star in the summer, with production beginning in the fall. Nike stopped placing orders with its previous primary hand-sticked soccer ball contract manufacturer about six months ago due to labor compliance violations.
