Motorola has revealed more photos and details of the upcoming Q900 cellphone, also known as Zante, which is actually the name of a Greek island.

The Zante name is good for a cellphone because it doesn’t have an actual meaning, it is like what Microsoft did to the their player called Zune.

Anyhow, the good looking Motorola cellphone features the classic sliding keyboard which gives it plenty of style. The keyboard itself seems to be big enough so you don’t press other keys by accident, it has 5 rows and the mighty QWERTY style. The screen is on the QVGA TFT category with the usual 65 thousand colors and measuring 2.4-inches.

On the technical specifications it has: 128MB of internal RAM memory; support of different audio files such as MP3, WAV, MIDI, AAC, ACC+, and WMA.2.5mm; game controllers; and Java. The connectivity options are bluetooth, or for the internet related tasks, EDGE. And if storage capacity is one of your needs, there is one expansion slot to increase the memory to 2GB, thanks to a miniSD card.

As for the Motorola Q900 price, it will cost approximately $270 and it is suppose to become available during October by T-Mobile and Motorola.

Friends of an Australian prosecutor charged with child pornography settled a lawsuit against a newspaper that had plastered their names on the front page.

The 16 plaintiffs were among 59 people who had sent private letters to prosecutors attesting to the character of defendant Patrick Power, but awoke one morning to a headline in The Daily Telegraph that read: “Pervert and his 59 Mates.” The Sydney Morning Herald recounted Friday that the story was followed up in The Sunday Telegraph with pictures and samples of some of the readers’ stinging comments.

“The blog comments were appalling,” noted one of the plaintiffs, a former Supreme Court judge.

The plaintiffs, who settled for a reported $30,000 each, included legal-community colleagues, a prominent architect and Tim Pethick, the founder of Nudie Juice and the husband of an executive at the newspaper.

A former firefighter in Mason, Ohio, pleaded guilty to drunken driving to avoid charges for wearing a blond wig and bikini in a city park.

Steven Cole pleaded guilty to operating a vehicle while intoxicated and disorderly conduct in exchange for prosecutors dropping a public indecency charge and a count of having an open beer, the Cincinnati Enquirer reported Friday.

Assistant Prosecutor Juliette Dame said the indecency charge could have been proven based on witness accounts. “But I think this worked out best for everyone,” she said. “He admitted to drunken driving. He’s taken responsibility for his actions with counseling and that’s really what’s most important at this point.”

Cole was sentenced to two years probation and ordered to attend a three-day mandatory driver intervention program for drunken driving. He has also been barred from the city’s parks and ordered not to drive for six months except in cases relating to work, counseling sessions, family appointments and visits with his probation officer. He must also pay a $250 fine.

Jim Carrey will star in a high-tech movie version of Charles’ Dickens’ classic, “A Christmas Carol,” The Los Angeles Times reported Friday.

Carrey, who starred in the 2000 blockbuster movie version of the Dr. Seuss fable, “How the Grinch Stole Christmas”, will play multiple roles in director Robert Zemeckis’ take on the Dickens’ tale for Walt Disney Pictures.

Carrey will play Ebenezer Scrooge at different ages, as well as the ghosts of Christmas past, present and future. The movie will combine live action with performance-capture technology, which Zemeckis used in his 2004 adaptation of the children’s book, “The Polar Express.”

Production on “A Christmas Carol” is scheduled to start this year. No release date has been announced.

Former ‘N Sync singer Lance Bass has not realized his goal to go into space, but he is headed for New York’s Broadway, to play in the musical, “Hairspray.”

Bass will join the company as dance show emcee Corny Collins August 14, the day before “Hairspray” celebrates its fifth anniversary on Broadway, The New York Daily News reported Friday.

He’ll join Jerry Mathers, “The Beav” in the 1950s sitcom “Leave It to Beaver”; pop singers Darlene Love and Tevin Campbell; and former boy-band singer Ashley Parker Angel of O-Town. Bass in 2002 tried to buy his way onto a Russian Soyuz space mission, but fell short.

Besides writing “Out of Sync,” about his days with the popular boy band, Bass can be seen in the comedy, “I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry,” starring Adam Sandler and Kevin James as straight firemen who pretend to be a gay couple so they can collect domestic partner benefits.
